Joe believes the therapeutic relationship helps his patients to affirm and explore their human experience. It is the space where his clients can practice vulnerability and authenticity. He brings extensive experience of providing emotional support for healthcare workers while he served as Chaplain at Barnes-Jewish Hospital. Joe also specializes in working with university students and adults as they navigate the positive and negative complexities of life, their social relationships and cultural influences, all in service of the person they want to become.
Joe’s approach to counseling centers on helping clients find and express their personal voice. By cultivating a safe, caring, and non-judgmental environment, he collaborates with clients to identify their desirable changes in their lives. He helps them navigate obstacles along the way towards reaching their goals. Because each person’s story is unique, Joe works to integrate person centered therapy, cognitive behavioral therapy, and existential therapy to help his clients become more aware of how their mental, physical, and emotional health all contribute to their ongoing development.
