Tricia Aukamp, MS, SSP
For the past twelve years, Tricia has worked in the school setting as a School Psychologist where she has gained invaluable experience identifying individual strengths and weaknesses of the students she worked with. She is skilled at goal setting and implementing specific behavioral strategies to help youth bring about change in their thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. Through her work in schools, Tricia has a broad knowledge base of what children face in today’s world. Her goal is to provide increased support and explicit teaching to clients working towards developing positive coping strategies as well as boosting self-esteem and self-confidence.
In the private setting, Tricia works with children, adolescents, and young adults. Tricia views counseling as a therapeutic approach to helping individuals develop to their fullest potential. She has a commitment to her clients to set and achieve individual goals identified together during sessions. Clients can expect a safe space and an empathetic ear which creates an environment of acceptance and openness. Her focus is on positive, forward-oriented growth as well as resolving internal distress, understanding thoughts and feelings, and on thinking of new solutions to daily problems. Tricia aims to provide a fun, yet relaxing, environment where the child, adolescent, or young adult can engage in therapy through a variety of activities and modalities.
Tricia utilizes an individualized and integrative approach to therapy with a variety of techniques such as Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy, Solution-Focused Therapy, Reality Therapy, and Behavior Modification.
