Matt brings a unique, holistic approach to his therapy practice. With a background in the comparative study of religion, prior to earning his degree in professional counseling, he studied a variety of belief systems, traditions, and cultures. Though his services are not faith-based, he is respectful of his clients’ beliefs and values and seeks to work within his clients’ frames of reference.

Matt uses a combination of therapeutic treatments including Client-Centered Therapy, Solution-Focused Therapy, Mindfulness, and Motivational Interviewing. He works primarily with individual adults, offering telehealth appointments for clients in Illinois and Missouri, and has a background in treating people in an academic setting. He enjoys working with a diverse population including LGBTQIA+ clients. He often assists clients with issues such as codependence, guilt, shame, stress, trauma, grief, life transitions, relationship concerns, communication, anxiety, and depression.

Matt takes the “fellow traveler” approach by working in partnership with his clients. He engages clients with compassion and guides them in self-reflection. Matt endeavors to provide a space without demands in which clients are empowered to create meaning and discover solutions.
