Charity Thompson, MA, LCPC

Troy North Office

Charity is a licensed therapist with over 20 years of experience working with individuals and their families. Charity works with all ages but specializes in treating children and pre-teens. She uses a combination of cognitive behavioral therapy, solution focused therapy, art therapy, and play therapy to help ease the challenges of emotional fluctuations, worry, anxiety, ADHD symptoms, life adjustments, and relational discord.

When working with children, Charity assists with identifying and understanding feelings, as well as additional underlying factors that may be impacting daily actions and reactions. She uses art and play therapy techniques to identify triggers, develop effective coping skills, and implement healthy strategies. In addition, her approach works to provide children with the tools to better express themselves and engage in more positive interactions with others. Charity can help to identify barriers to listening, following directions, and managing impulsive behaviors in a healthy manner. Charity works with family members throughout treatment, as applicable, to develop successful behavior modification plans and explore how to best support the child and move the family in a positive direction.

When working with individuals and couples, Charity uses a combination of cognitive behavioral therapy, solution focused therapy, and some relational strategies to distinguish strengths, identify areas of change, and establish alternative ways to conceptualize and react to a variety of life experiences.
